The menstrual cycle can cause some changes in your appetite. Many girls and women experience an increase in appetite. However, because of symptoms like nausea, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea, some don’t feel like eating. Make sure that you are getting plenty of liquids to drink to help with bloating and constipation. Also, eating a diet of non-greasy foods that are easily digested might help with any nausea. If your symptoms are severe or you have vomiting or diarrhea that keeps you home from school or from doing activities, make an appointment with your healthcare provider to talk about your appetite changes.
Each of us reacts so differently to our periods. It just depends on how the hormones are kicking around inside of you. You sound the opposite of me. There is no right or wrong, we all just try to modify during this time. For me, I try not to eat too many salty chips. For you, just ensure you are getting the nutrients you need, and of course lots of water.
